A predilection of Paradise? No. It is Paradise. How you can hear each and every instrument fuse together so amazingly is truly sublime, so sublime that you feel a wondrous bliss. Afro-cuban jazz (or swing) is the result of a most fine combination of delight and pure fantasy. The improvised solos of each member of the band make one great connection between the mind and the soul, the soul being our passionate love for heavenly music such as what they create.

The Montreal Cubop Project officially started around two months ago. It is formed by six band members: percussionist Clarence Corbeil; with Juan Pablo Carmona as the double bassist, Pier-Luc Daoust on the piano, Louis-Antoine Couture as the guitarist, Denis Falardeau playing the trumpet and Jérôme Fréchette on drums. They all come from Cégep Marie-Victorin. They’ve covered six jazz songs so far.

Clarence Corbeil, who originally started the band, did three years of drums and eight years of percussion. He is also the Q-boy of the band.

“We play like we talk,” they say. Meaning that when they play jazz, it’s like having a conversation amongst each other, spontaneously resulting in groovy music.
